Next Meeting...
Is also our March Social activity, we will meet at the AMF Bowling Lanes at 8788 Metcalf Avenue on March 19th at 2pm.

Email from Jill, Outreach Director with SWBlvd Famliy Health Clinic

Hi, Erin. It was nice talking with you on Wednesday. I have found out a few more details about the June River Run. This is an annual fundraiser for the clinic. Supporters register, have breakfast, ride motorcycles from location to location, draw a playing card at each stop, and return to the original location where prizes and a live auction end the event. Usually 150-200 people participate. The participating bars are located in Bonner Springs, Lawrence and KCK. Each bar also offers prizes, drawings, and give-aways. We could use volunteers at registration to register supporters and hand out t-shirts and at each location to deal the poker draw. Does this sound like something your volunteers might like to help with? The date has not yet been set but if you think your group is interested, I’ll keep you updated.

Thanks for your interest,

Jill Quigley
Outreach Director

Hi all,

As you know I was busy on Sunday. Was it determined when/where the next Q2 get together will be held? I have started a new job so I am not promising anything, but I would like to stay involved if possible.

Thanks,
Don

Service Update

I finally spoke with Jill from Southwest Boulevard Family Health Care , she had a few ideas for volunteer opportunities we could do with they agency.

March/April: landscaping, beautification, etc.
June: Poker Run, which is their big fundraiser.

Stay tuned for more information, Jill said she would email me as it is available. Please let me know if this is something we're interested in doing. I did tell her that we were more likely to be interested in something after April considering the activities we've already planned for the upcoming months. Of course we can chat more at our next meeting before bowling!

MEETING THIS SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2:00 P.M.

Elizabeth here. (Do you all find it's hard to tell who's who from our nicknames?)

Just as a reminder, we are gathering this Sunday. We are actually meeting AT SMUUCH, in the barn chapel. We will do a quick game, Courtney will lead an activity, followed by any business (Erin--we can discuss volunteering?) Afterwards, if individuals want to head out together that's cool, too, but we don't have anything formal planned. So plan on approx. 30 min. for a meeting. Hope you can all make it.

I just wanted to also say thanks to Erin for taking charge of a volunteer project. I know everyone's really interested, even if we can't do it this Sunday. Just keep us posted, Erin.

Finally, if you want to get involved I have three things people could help with. . .

Are you an internet master? I could use some help changing our blog format so you can email the group or individuals while still hiding email addresses from the outside world. Anyone got mad skillz?

The church has a column in the Drumbeat called "Celebrations, Cares, and Concerns." Its reporter, Liz Campbell, has approached me about having a Quarterlife Quorum 'beat reporter' for this column--helping make sure that the Celebrations, Cares, and Concerns of our particular demographic aren't overlooked. This would entail asking people's permission to share their CCC's with the church in the newsletter (like if you got a new apartment, or a new job, or had a parent who was sick, etc.) and then pass it onto Liz via email. Very easy. Especially if you're pretty social. Anyone want to be a beat reporter for the CCC column?

Finally, this is totally not a big deal, but I thought maybe we could use our own chalice. As spectacular as my evergreeen-scented, glittery Christmas Candle IS and all, I thought maybe someone out there with artistic talent could put together a chalice masterpiece for us. Just think about it--mosaic, pottery, or even an old tin can artfully cut. The possibilities are endless. You crafters out there think about it and let us know if you could make our very own Q2 Chalice.

Best,
EBeth

February Social Action....might have to be in March

I contacted Family Health Care again to try and set up a day to volunteer. This time I spoke with Joe Welch who is a social worker for the clinic. Turns out Jill, the volunteer coordinator is a volunteer. So, the plan is for Joe to pass the information on to Jill and hopefully I'll hear something soon.

Another option is to do a project with another agency. Any ideas? Maybe we can brainstorm at our next Q2 meeting.

See you at our Sunday meeting!

Hi everyone,
I think I have gotten my problem figured out, so that both of my blogs at blogger.com are under one ID. I can only think of one person that might be interested in becoming active in Quaterlife. I will check with them and let them know about the meeting later this month.
Have a good one.

I think it's cool everyone's trying it out--just want to say Blogger does not always run smoothly, much like Hotmail's ability to crash right in the middle of my long, complex emails.

I have changed everyone's status (who have joined as blog members) to have "administrative" functions so you can help edit the template if you are skilled at that kind of thing. One thing I've been trying to do is make it so we can email everyone in the group using a link on this page, that would not reveal our email addresses to outsiders. Stealing my friend's source code for another group blog I belong to is not working, because, apparently he doesn't care if other people can see our emails. Although, I must admit, so far I haven't gotten any random stalker email from that site yet.

So, if you want to give it a stab, feel free.

It was good to see those of you that I noticed at SMUUCH yesterday. I hope you either enjoyed the Super Bowl last night or found something better to do with the evening if competition is not your cup of tea.

I don't know...

...what happened. I already blogged once, and it showed up for me. However it seems to have disappeared now.

Thanks again to all of you for coming out to our first meeting of the year. I had a fantastic time and look forward to getting to know you all a little bit better.Big thanks to everyone who's stepping up to make the next couple of meetings/activities happen.

Finally, I'd just like to throw this suggestion out there. If you have friends who have shown interest in SMUUCH but have for one reason or another not made it out to a service, the Quarterlife Quorum might be the perfect setting to introduce them to what we're about in a lower stress situation.

Have a great week, see you all soon!

February "Social Action"

I contacted Family Health Care regarding our February service project. I left a message for Jill, the volunteer coordinator. Stay tuned for more information!

Jessica, I will take over the chalice-lighting for our next meeting.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful Monday!

Quarterlife Quorum

My very first blog! I had volunteered to find a chalice lighting for our next meeting, but am going to be in New York for work. Would someone else be able to do it? (find a chalice lighting, not go to New York - although if you can convince my boss...)

Thanks!
Jessica

Can someone invite lifeandsuch to this blog?

I have totally screwed this blogging thing up and have realized I have two log-ins at www.blogger.com
It is kind of screwy because I have two e-mails dkeener@ku.edu which is autofwarded to my hotmail(keenerdon@hotmail.com) and the blogger.comwebsite of course doesn't realize I am the same person, because of my error.

Thanks for helping me out....
