AIDS WALK UPDATE!
Our team has been created! Just to be clear, this walk DOES NOT COST YOU ANYTHING in terms of a registration fee. The idea is you register online, and you get people to donate you money. There is a really cool website that does all of this for you via people's credit cards and bank cards, so you don't need to handle money, but you can also gather money and donate it. What do you need to do if you want to participate?
1. Visit the website http://www.aidswalkkansascity.org/ and register to walk. It is very easy and took me less than 10 minutes. You will be asked at a certain point in the process if you are part of a team--just scroll down and look for Quarterlife Quorum to select it.
2. Follow the website's instructions for inviting people to sponsor you to walk, if you choose to do so. Make your own donation, should you choose to do so.
3. Help us sponsor a coffee hour bake sale to raise team donations for the walk. All you need to do is bake (or buy) a breakfast-y treat. Then bring it to church for coffee hour April 9th. You should be there by 9:50 to set up. Help us sell your treats and collect money, etc. All the money we make will go into a group donation for our team for the AIDS Walk.
4. Walk! Have fun!
Saturday, April 22nd at Theis Park, located at 47th and Oak just south of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Registration opens at 8:00 a.m., Welcoming Ceremonies commence at 9:30 a.m. and at 10 a.m. WE WALK! I have done this before (ages ago, in high school) and the Welcoming Ceremonies are actually pretty fun.
5. After the walk, Rev. Thom Belote has invited us to his place, just south of the plaza near Brookside, for brunch. Details to come soon.
